I have every color of the sky inside of my eyes when I close them to rest here. I live upon a fertile earth, one that awakens as I am bound to sleep. I awake to the sun knocking on my window and politely asking to come in. I walk into my house and face laughter—I laugh until tears sit on my eyelids for gratitude, and I laugh out of delight in being able to share that beauty. The ocean greets me every hour of the day, if I try to forget her; she awakens me in my sleep.
Here I am reminded that we are mostly made of water and that any day of our existence, we may be washed away.
Mother Maui humbles me, reminds me I am as delicate as the rain that puts me to rest.
Here, I have every color of the sky alive inside the rainbows in my heart.
